Practice Statement

Prosocial studio explores ways of making art/research as a byproduct of embedded public service.

We work:                                                          as arborists, fellows, administrators, bus operators, designers, technologists

Within existing environments:       orchards, city halls, transit agencies

In service:                                                        understanding, articulating, facilitating, intervening

Of publics:                                                       people, spaces, resources, values

Through selection, immersion, documentation and exaptation we deploy labor as a perceptual instrument to understand, compress and reposition ineffable characteristics of the publics and service we're embedded within.

These compressions are deconstructed, analyzed and reconstituted into art, and complicated by research.
